Yashoda Hospitals to host Cancer Awareness 5K run

Hyderabad: Yashoda Hospitals (Malakpet) and Yashoda Cancer Institute, Malakpet will be jointly organizing a Cancer Awareness 5K run on Sunday, February 4, 2018 with participation from several film personalities, IAS - IPS officers and prominent doctors from Hyderabad.
The 5K Run to be inaugurated at Saroornagar stadium, near L.B.Nagar in the city. It will commence by 7.30 AM at Saroornagar stadium, proceed up to Kothapet and will be back to culminate at the stadium.
Briefing about the programme Dr G.Vijay Kumar, Chief Operating Officer of Yashoda Hospital, Malakpet said, the initiative is a part of cancer community services started by ‘Fight On’, a cancer community support program-me started by Yashoda Group of Hospitals to help conquerors of cancer, beyond providing superior medical treatment.
Cancer has caused more panic than all the diseases that have been tormenting the mankind. India has a high disease burden of cancer with 10 lakh people being diagnosed afresh with cancer every year and approximately 8 lakh deaths per year.
This number could rise significantly if preventive measures are not taken. “One-thirds of Cancers can be prevented by avoiding tobacco, leading a healthy lifestyle. ‘Yashoda Cancer Awareness 5K Run’ to increase understanding, early detection and improve survival of cancer. We are hosting this awareness walk in the hope to fill the gap between knowledge and discussion surrounding this killer disease” Chief Operating Officer of Yashoda Hospital, Malakpet explained.
What's more, as part of World Cancer day programme, Yashoda Group of Hospitals is conducting cancer screening at a deeply discounted rates.
