Yashoda Vs Apollo: Who's best in organ donation?

Surprising to know that Apollo Hospital doesn't lead in organ donation in Hyderabad.

Actually, it is the hospital topping the Jeevandan charts in Hyderabad when it comes to organ donation but what's surprising is how the National Organ & Tissue Transplant Orgnization (NOTTO) awarded Yashoda Hospitals, Hyderabad with 'Best Hospital in Organ Donation'.

The award was recently collected by Dr G. Ravinder Rao, the Chairman of Yashoda Hospital Group at  an event organised by at Constitution Club Annexe, New Delhi from Honourable Minster of State for Heath & Family welfare(HFW) Ms. Anupriya Patel.

The event was also attended by the Health Minstrer of Tamil Nadu along with CEO of Jeevandan organisation Dr.G.Swarnalatha of Telangana Prof. Vimal Bhandari the director NOTTO &  Prof. Jagdeesh Prasad of  DGHS.

So, does it mean getting consent from the kin of brain dead patients is now considered an easy job by NOTTO and that's why they selected Yashoda hospital for the award?

Begun a decade ago Yashoda has taken up Liver, Kidney,Heart, lung transplants in a big way. With a special emphasis on saving patients with life-threatening Complete liver failure, Chronic Kidney Disease, Heart failure. Yashoda Hospitals Group has established separate centers for these key organ transplants Surgeons trained, worked with prestigious national and international medical centers are conducting organ transplants on regular basis throughout the year, read a statement from Yashoda.

No doubt, Yashoda hospital is taking up cadaver transplants but ignoring the better player i.e Apollo Hospital for converting brain dead patients into organ donors is definitely in bad taste.

Dr G.Ravinder Rao Chaiman of the Hospitals group said in a statement: “ Yashoda Group of Hospitals organised an Organ Donation Campaign for the second time recently with association with Jeevandan. Our  common objective is to promote massive organ donation and make maximum availability & utilisation of cadaver organs in two Telugu states.”

Well, NOTTO is wrong this time.
