Why medicos should shun Telangana & practice in AP?

The other day I randomly inquired with a Telangana medico as to how much a quack earns in the context of their recent demand seeking a hike in their stipends.

His estimate was that an average a 10th fail/pass quack with years of experience and right connections was making around Rs 1-4 lakhs a month as commission.

In contrast, the max that a final year super-speciality PG was earning in Telangana was Rs 32822 per month exposing himself/herself to all vulnerabilities that ranged from violent action by angry kin to negligence and apathy of the administration when it comes to maintaining standards.

So, I was left wondering if the government does not hear their plea what course is left for such medicos who are willing to set up independent practice after finishing their professional courses?

Definitely, a stint in corporate hospitals can be useful to learn the tricks of the trade but in the longer run, there would be many who would not like to withstand the corporate pressure and target system.

Where to practice?

Well, urban areas are generally preferred when it comes to setting up medical practice but looking at government data, it's advisable they target urban areas in Andhra Pradesh.

Whether one credits it to the living standards or purchasing power, men in Andhra Pradesh were found to shell out Rs 42894 on average for one-day hospitalization as compared to Rs 29093 by Telangana men in urban areas for the same period.

This figure was almost double of the national average as Indian men on average spent Rs  28165 for one-day hospitalization in urban areas.

Elsewhere, it's advisable to set up practice in Gujarat rural as an average Gujrati is found to be shelling out Rs 29954 per day of hospitalisation as compared to Rs 11842 per person/day in Telangana rural.

If you are looking at the national level and want to set up medical practise on your own or in a corporate set-up at the best urban area with the highest purchasing power that people are willing to pay for hospitalization, I would would suggest setting up shop in union territory at Dadra and Nagar Haveli.

It turns out that men here shelled out Rs 55879 on average for per day hospitalisation cost in urban areas. Even Assam too is good place to practice as it has good earning potential.

The government data shows that women in urban Assam have shelled out Rs 60152 for per day hospitalization cost.
